Drug Information Specialist - Toxicologist
Basic Position Functions
Manages health and safety calls by providing product information to consumers, end users and healthcare professionals. Completely and accurately documents calls. Notifies the appropriate staff outlined in the notification guidelines. No patient specific diagnostic advice or treatment should be provided to callers.
Duties
- Answer the telephone at the health and safety call center
- Respond with appropriate information based on client specifications without providing caller specific diagnostic or treatment advice
- Document adverse event and information calls for manufacturers
- Provide drug information for pharmaceutical and health & nutrition manufacturers
- Discuss health and safety issues with consumers, workers, and health care professionals
- Handle calls involving both animals and humans
- Obtain caller/patient demographic data
- Follow-up with callers to assure there are no further health concerns
- Serve as a resource to the IS staff
- Notify Lead Tox, Med Tox, and Vet Tox about cases as outlined in the notification guidelines
- Watch for trends involving new products or new issues with existing products
- Participate in training of new staff
- Stay up to date on continuing education requirements
- Help to develop continuing education programs
- Develop and present new client product training
Degree Requirements
- RN, RPh, Pharm D., MD, DVM or equivalent
Licensure Required
- Current MN License appropriate with degree or equivalent from another state or country
